Annapolis is the capital of Maryland and one of the most historically significant cities in the Mid-Atlantic. Founded in the 17th century, Annapolis has a complex history — including its role as a major port in the Atlantic slave trade. But Annapolis also has a profound Black cultural legacy: the community that built this city has never left, and today the city's West Street corridor and surrounding neighborhoods are home to a growing Black business scene that honors that history while building the future. From crab houses to barbershops to wellness studios, Annapolis's Black-owned businesses are doing the work.
